Skyhook Range.

Nationwide, our range of Skyhooks has a reputation for giving a valuable, reliable and high quality service through their ability to perform a multitude of tasks. The concept is designed around preventing manual handling problems, thus lessening the likelihood of injury through over exertion. An example of their many uses, is that they can be used as an anchorage point in confined areas from which to hang chain blocks, or they can be used in such a way as to fasten a safety harness onto when working at height eg. on HGV trailers.

The Skyhook® range has been developed with the self-drive operator in mind. They offer surprising versatility for their size, and are exceptionally user friendly. They can effectively be used as a mini crane and are designed specifically for use in confined spaces and hazardous areas, the machines can perform delicate operations safely and effectively.

We offer a complete range of training and testing for drivers of Skyhooks®, whether they are novices or experienced, to a standard that is accredited and accepted on sites throughout the UK.

To complement the smaller machines we developed the larger Skyhook® range that is aimed towards trailer towing and loading duties. By using a continuously slewing loader arm, the operator can easily load and unload his trailer without leaving the cab, or uncoupling the draw bar. This is one of the areas where our machines out perform mini-cranes; a conventional crane is not permitted to tow a trailer.

The larger Skyhook® range also has a trailer braking system fitted as standard, which can be either hydraulic or air, depending on site requirements, and all machines are equipped with the relevant safety equipment ie, engine shutdown valve, exhaust spark arrestor, hazard warning lighting and reversing alarm.

These machines can be classed as truly all-terrain, whether on tarmac roads, or negotiating the muddiest of sites in 4 wheel drive, making them extremely versatile while allowing the customer a greater scope of activity from only one machine. A 6 tonne machine was used to erect the infamous “Super fence” at the Glastonbury Festival, and during this contract it was discovered that our Skyhook makes a very good anchor point for fall arrest systems when working on the bed of a trailer. The main benefits being that the anchor point is adjustable to the load height and, that the system works within it's own width, unlike most other methods.
